Musical portents

I mentioned before how my actual wedding day wasn't really what I wanted to be, largely because I was grieving for my mother, who had died 6 months before.

Now, as it happens, I wouldn't change a thing, really, because my marriage has been an utter blessing to me.

But obviously, when an event didn't quite go how you wanted it to, sometimes, you occasionally think about what you would have done differently. My dress, as I've mentioned before, would have been very different.

However, yesterday, as I was listening to the radio, I decided on the music for my retrospective big day. Given the turbulence of our subsequent life, I could think of nothing more appropriate than walking down the aisle to Mars, from the planet suite by Gustav Holst. ;-)

Hmmmm, I think I can imagine hearing that in a wedding!! My husband LOVES Holst--I forget which "planet" is his favorite.

I used to "redo" my wedding in my mind too. Princess Di's dress was my inspiration--THAT certainly "dates" me now doesn't it?
