What? Is that nearly a Tory policy?

Can it be? The first flutterings of common sense?

One can only hope. I know I'm owing Matthew a post on Tory policy, but I've got to say that Iain Duncan Smith has beat me to the punch, because I wouldn't disagree with many of his policy proposals.

And, I notice, the lefties are whining about 'discrimination'. Head Prefect David Milliband is very much against the state not subsidizing the society-weakening growth of the fatherless family, and the brightly head-scarfed Camila Batmanghelidjh can't get her ideology-stuffed head around the statistics that show marriage as the best environment to raise children.

"I don't see how it is going to help people or affect in any way people staying married or people getting married. And I think it is unfair when there are people living happily together to not give them the same tax incentive." She opined.

So tax-breaks that prop up the leftist ideology = good, tax-breaks which actually incentivise doing something that strengthens society = bad.

It just goes to show that the left doesn't actually give a monkey's about helping people to help themselves. The left needs an underclass to stay dependent upon the state, because that's the way the left stays in power. The siren song of the welfare state, coupled with the odious social-engineering so popular among the political classes nowadays, is the distraction from the jagged rocks of family breakdown, drug and alcohol abuse, state-dependency and feckless teens.

If there was a Conservative party with the gumption to take that sacred cow on, I'd be even more impressed.

Yes, it is a good policy. It is nice to see you pleased with us for once.

Make that two of us, MAtthew. Mr Cameron, DO THIS if you do nothing else. The pathetic BBC telling us the statistics and then saying 'but...but' made me want to puke. It is BUT NOTHING. Marriage is of God. How suprising that Marriage = better education, better attainment, less crime, etc, etc etc.

The Tory's have won me over with this one I have to say. Although I am an old socialist at heart family values count above political maifesto's.

For a moment, there, I thought you'd moved to the U.S.
