...surely, the answer would be to direct Christians and others to look out for those who truly have nothing, instead of suggesting that those who have nothing turn to petty theft.

Unbelievable! I'm wondering if when someone gets caught and says, "My priest told me to do it!" the priest will take responsibility and pay the fine and serve the time.
At least it's still illegal.
Here in the USA, our legislators are trying to enact a law not only legitimizing, but enforced participation in health care shoplifting.
The law of God? What's that? Don't ask me, I'm just a priest...
