Sleep and energy.

I've been having more bizarre episodes of memory loss. It's the most unnerving thing to realize that hours of time have disappeared. I've baked, cleaned and washed and have no recollection of it whatsoever. It's not even like a small thing will trigger the memories to return - there are just black holes in the day.

I think the medication causing it is my sleeping medication, so I'm going to properly wean myself off them. Sleep is a precious commodity in this house - I don't sleep well anyway, and that's before wakeful children. Reuben goes down very well, but has a bit of waking in the wee small hours.

Eden takes a long time to settle and a long time to get up. I go to bed early and it takes a lorryload worth of noise to rouse me. Perhaps that's the medication; we shall see as I come off it. I have to work out how much sleep I actually need - Reuben is such a handful I know I need energy to spare.

I don't know if it's a boy thing, but he demands so much more of me than his sisters ever did. I turn my back for a minute and he's found a box of crayons and is busily decorating the curtains. A second later he's tipped peanuts on the lounge carpet. I can't keep up, especially when I'm trying to educate the eldest two. Poor Beenie (Aurelia) gets a bit lost in the mayhem.

I'm trying to keep a clear head and not grumble about it, but it does seem that my best efforts are constantly thwarted, which does lend itself to some complaining. I shall endeavour to remain grateful for this little tribe who test me so everyday!

It's a boy thing. My daughter has three sons, and they will wear you out.
My wife and I watched them for a week, while my daughter and her husband went on a trip.

I love Matt and Noah to death, but they sure have tons of energy.

I shall pray to our Lord for you.

Peace and grace.

I have three of them.

Lots of activity and fresh air helps.

And - this may sound weird - but just getting them into a bigger space helps. It's as if they need a bigger space just to BE. Hence the go-outside-into-the-fresh-air, but in our rainy months I have to make the effort in the form of going to the pool (indoor) or a gym, or even playing in our church's large (empty) multi-purpose room. Anywhere they can run around and be loud and it's okay.

I don't know if that will encourage you or discourage you... just know you're not alone.

Yes, it definitely is a boy thing. And it's hard to homeschool with a busy little boy around; I rememer those days well.

I hope things sort themselves out for you.

It's a boy thing - I run them like I run the dogs every morning for an hour or so in the park before we start any formal work. Girls would just get tired out and work less well but boys seem energized by it!
